China and Japan

I was just reading Godlike and it says that the first superhuman in China was in 1940.

I think that is probably the first confirmed case, but It may have been earlier, maybe as far back as 1937 when Japan invaded China.

Shane,

Just curious, is there a reason why the first Japanese parahuman manifested in teh 40s instead of being earlier, japan has been at war since 1937?

Do you also think that Parahumans may have manifested during the Spanish civil war 1936-1939?

Well, there are the official First Talents, then there are the actual First Talents. As far as the world at large knows, the first Japanese Talent showed up in 1940. But there may have been others, maybe more than one, who manifested powers earlier but either kept them a secret or got killed before they became known. That's up to each GM. The same could go for the Spanish Civil War. If you want to say Rick Blaine sparked a power in 1937 as the first real American Talent (Hypercommand, only works on gorgeous women, no doubt), then kept his power a secret so he could remain under the radar in Casablanca, you're welcome to do so.
