Howdy

Anyone in the UK? You've still got time to register for Furnace in Sheffield at the end of the month, here, where I'll be running One O'clock Wake Up and an original NEMESIS / Delta Green scenario.

Howdy some more!

The games went well enough. One O'clock Wake Up had the biggest survival rate of any time I've run it so far, largely due to some spectacular roles and a policy of running in all the grunts in mob handed, without any thought for individual safety - which is ironic as that's SS method really - kind of ironic to bring down Ubermenschen with it though.

Gotterdamerung went well, even though three of my players stayed in an over-running D&D game for no understandable reason. As two of them were German it saved me some embarassment with dodgy accents however...

I managed to get one player hiding behind her cardigan at least twice within the first hour and that was with a relatively mundane encounter. Investigating a bunker the group got cavalier and were upset by a potato masher in the face taking two of them out when they stormed down some stairs. The blue-blooded officer decided to avenge his Captains (apparent) death and charge in afterwards, but another steilhandgranate upset them. After this they fled rather than complete the mission which was odd for a one-off adventure.

There was some confusion when one of the players thought that the German holding a potato masher was literally that. It explains why they weren't concerned when a manual vegetable mulching device was launched at them. It was somewhat of a shock for the poor player when the others explained I meant a stick grenade. As it was Delta Green though, it was entirely possible for the antagonist to be armed with an actual potato masher, having gone bonkers and in fact, this character might appear in a future scenario.

All in all, people got to grips with ORE fairly well and most improtantly, everyone enjoyed it.

Cheers

Sounded like it was a blast. What's your usually bodycount in Godlike per gaming session btw?

That's pretty funny.
Hobbie: 1 O'Clock wake up can be a nasty scenario since it's a bunch of wounded GI's vs. a group of wounded Ubers. I've run it once where a half dozen GI are killed and a second time where only two died.

I try not to kill anyone in campaign, but the system is very lethal... Most of the games I've done recently have been one-shot or convention games and therefore I'm a bit more liberal with letting the dice fall as they will.

I like to encourage poeple to get interesting powers rather than just stocking up on HyperStat 10, which leaves them vulnerable; adventures need to be set up with an 'escape route' planned. A teleporter who will collect the group, or an air raid to cover thier retreat etc. as invariably there will be lost limbs at the very least...

And as Countrysamurai hinted at, One O'clock Wake Up can quite easily result in a player going through three characters in as many minutes. Its not how you'd want to run a campaign though...
