How can a sorcerer cast Harm without having to conjure or invoke something? There is an example of a sorcerer summoning a demon into a lock and casting harm on it. Are there spells you can cast that don't require conjuring or invoking?

Well, conjurers and invokers can cast spells that don't directly conjure or invoke a demon or archon. However, such spells ONLY affect spirits. All spells deal with or relate directly to spirits, even if they don't invoke one. With harm, for example, you harm a spirit. If that spirit is bound into a lock, you harm the lock as well, because it's been intertwined with the spirit.

So yes, there are plenty of spells that don't call upon spirits, but they still deal with them.
