Missing Aspects of Character Creation

How do you create a character with "social advantages" (such as being wealthy or having a certain status) or "flaws" (such as being deaf or having an addiction) in Wild Talents?

There are optional rules for wealth and influence in the book.

As for flaws such as deafness, they're not part of character creation per se because they don't have anything to do with superpowers -- unless they do, in which case use them as flaws ("only when he can't see"). Otherwise they're aspects of the character to be roleplayed. It should certainly be worth a Willpower bonus in play if you overcome such a limitation, but you don't get bonus points for it in character creation.

Maybe one way handle it is to have a -1/2/4 to the SENSE stat. This would require the GM and player to remember that any rolls requiring hearing are skipped by this PC.

Well maybe this will help. In my own SLA Industries conversion using WT/Nemesis I want the players to be able to earn xp just a little bit faster so I'm letting them each pick up to 3 flaws. These flaws don't give character points at character creation, instead the players are able to earn 1 bonus experience point per flaw per session, provided they roleplayed their flaws well, and in an entertaining fashion.

And that is the "the hotness" for flaws these days; and it's brilliant. I think awarding the actual PLAYING of flaws and the difficulties they cause is a better proposition than the min/maxing of points during character creation.

It also allows those who don't want to be flawed to skip 'em, if they want (although their fellows will be gaining XP faster...).
