Psychic Trappings Question

Postby LisaPadol on Sun Oct 30, 2011 11:05 pm

So, if I have this right, if one trapping of a skill is psychic, they all have to be. Now, for the most part, this is straightforward. But, what the heck is the difference between Psychic Mental Initiative and Non-Pyschic Mental Initiative? Between Psychic and Non-Psychic Willpower? Psychic means that the thing is done by the power of the mind alone, but is that not already true of Willpower and Mental Initiative?

While I am just random GM who happened to notice your question, I can still give you my opinion.

I imagine that Psychic Mental Initiative is thematically sensing when somebody are about to make an argument and being able to make yours before they make theirs. I would say it basically makes the character immune to Mental surprise attacks because they can see (think?) the mental conflict coming.

For Psychic Willpower I imagine it being more about raising Psychic barriers to protect your mind rather then the self control of resolve. Maybe it gives you a greater understanding of mental attacks directed at you or gives you better justification to roll blocks or maneuvers that help protect your mind.

Just my thoughts.
